The best apps to quit porn in 2026
By Antoine Fraboulet, creator of VOW, updated November 3, 2026 · 6 min read
Full disclosure first: we make VOW, and it's at the top of this list. So that you can judge for yourself, every app is described with the same criteria, limits included, and every price comes from its US App Store listing, checked on October 2, 2026. When another app fits you better, this page says so.
The comparison table

| QUITTR | Program, tracking, community | Yes | $9.99 to $14.99 a month, $49.99 lifetime |
| BlockerX | Blocker, accountability partner | Yes, Safari and Chrome | $2.99 to $149.99 |
| Brainbuddy | Daily program, exercises | Not advertised | $2.99 to $99.99 |

| I Am Sober | Sobriety counter, any addiction | No | Free, optional subscription |
"Not advertised" means the App Store listing doesn't mention it; a plan may still include it. When an app shows several prices for the same period, we give the range.
1. VOW: quit alone, without telling anyone
Best for: you want to quit without involving anyone, and you know you switch blockers off at the worst moment.
VOW turns on the adult website filter built into iOS, which works in Safari, Chrome, other browsers and web pages inside apps. Then it locks that filter with a random Screen Time passcode, typed into Settings one digit at a time so you never see it whole. To get it back, you ask for it and wait 24 hours, timed by the server, not by your phone's clock. You can cancel the request at any time. When an urge hits, an emergency mode opens in one tap, and the monk, an AI companion, answers at any hour without moralizing.
Limits: iPhone only. No block is unbreakable on a personal iPhone: VOW makes switching it off slow, not impossible. No community and no partner, by design.
Price: $5.99 a month, or $29.99 a year with a 3 day free trial.
2. Screen Time: the best free option
Best for: someone you trust can keep a passcode for you, or you want to start without paying.
The Limit Adult Websites filter is built into iOS and works in Safari and other browsers, with nothing to install. To cover apps too, you can add a free family DNS such as Cloudflare for Families. Step by step: how to block porn on iPhone.
Limits: if you know the passcode, the filter comes off in seconds. No help during urges, no tracking.
3. QUITTR: the best known program
Best for: you want a full program with a community.
The listing highlights progress tracking, daily exercises, meditations, challenges and a community. Its blocking relies on Apple's Screen Time authorization for third party apps, which can be revoked in Settings with a Face ID.
Prices checked: $9.99 to $14.99 a month, $19.99 to $29.99 a year depending on the offer, $49.99 lifetime.
4. BlockerX: a blocker with a partner
Best for: you want a configurable blocker and you're fine with a partner receiving reports.
The listing mentions blocking adult content in Safari and Chrome, custom site blocking, an emergency switch that cuts internet access, an accountability partner who receives daily browsing reports, and alerts if the app is uninstalled or its VPN is turned off.
Prices checked: in app purchases from $2.99 to $149.99, including a Premium annual plan at $139.99.
5. Brainbuddy: a daily program
Best for: day to day coaching rather than blocking.
Daily check ins, missions, quests and exercises picked according to your mood. The listing says every feature requires the Premium subscription after onboarding.
Prices checked: $2.99 to $99.99 depending on the plan, plus courses at $7.99.
6. Fortify: education and community
Best for: you want to understand what's going on, with videos, challenges and other people.
The listing describes a personalized assessment, videos and challenges, tracking and analytics, lifestyle coaching, teletherapy and a community. It presents itself as more than a filter.
Prices checked: $12 a month, $89.99 a year, $199.99 for lifetime access.
7. Unchaind: a Christian approach
Best for: faith is at the center of your recovery.
The listing highlights daily check ins, an AI companion that answers with Bible verses, prayers and a built in accountability system.
Prices checked: $14.99 to $17.99 a month, $49.99 a year for PRO, with other offers from $6.99 to $39.99.
8. Covenant Eyes: accountability through an ally
Best for: someone close to you is willing to follow your browsing, and a Christian approach suits you.
Victory by Covenant Eyes relies on an "ally": with your permission, it captures screenshots from Safari and shares them with that person, reports explicit domains opened in apps, and can block them.
Limits: you need someone, and you have to accept being seen. That's the exact opposite of VOW, built to depend on no one.
Prices checked: plans from $19.99 to $219.99 depending on length.
9. I Am Sober: a free counter
Best for: you just want to count your days, for free.
Not specific to porn: a sobriety counter for any addiction, which also helps you build new habits. It doesn't block anything. The counter is free; Sober Plus adds features.
Prices checked: Sober Plus at $9.99 a month, $29.99 to $39.99 a year.
The free options, honestly
Blocking porn for free is possible: the Screen Time filter and a family DNS cover most of it. What a free setup always lacks is the person who keeps the passcode. Without one, the filter only lasts until the next urge. That's mostly what paid apps sell: someone, or something, between you and the off switch.
Watch out for apps listed as "free" that put every feature behind a subscription after onboarding. Check the In App Purchases section of the listing before installing.

Try VOWFrequently asked questions
What is the best app to quit porn?
It depends on your situation. To quit alone with a block that's hard to switch off: VOW. If someone can keep your passcode, the free Screen Time filter is often enough. For a guided program: QUITTR, Brainbuddy or Fortify.
Is there a free app to quit porn?
Yes. The Screen Time filter built into iOS and Cloudflare for Families DNS are free, and I Am Sober has a free counter. Many apps listed as free require a subscription to actually work.
Can an app stop me from turning off the block completely?
Not on a personal iPhone. Serious options make switching it off slow, or hand the key to someone else. VOW uses a 24 hour delay, with no one else involved.
